Fiscavaig is a small residential hamlet, which is in the Minginish peninsula on the Isle of Skye. It is near the heart of the Island, the majestic Cuillin mountain range which boasts 12 of Scotland's Munros.
You are never far from Lochs, Mountains or wildlife here on Skye, to the delight of photographers. If climbing a mountain is not on your itinerary there is plenty more to do and see (including more gentle walks), boat trips and so much history, just too many things to list here. There's a lot of lovely walks in the area but equally Craighaven is an ideal central base to explore the North and South of the island in manageable, enjoyable excursions.
The nearest village is Carbost, Fiscavaig is a further 10 minute drive from the village on single track road.
Skye is a rural area. Measuring 1700 km sq it is a large island and with it's characteristic peninsulas and one way tracks it takes time to traverse and we really do recommend that you need a car or driver to make the most of the beautiful scenery there is on offer.
To help you plan here are some distances to consider (each way) -
- Portree - 20 miles/ 40 mins
- Fairy Pools - 9 miles/ 20 mins
- Sligachan - 12 miles/ 25 mins
- Staffin - 38 miles/ 1hr 10 mins
- Dunvegan - 24 miles/ 40 mins
- Armadale - 44 miles/ 1hr 15 mins
- Elgol - 42 miles/ 1hr 25 mins
- Skye Bridge - 36 miles/ 1 hr
With careful planning to get the most out of your trip it is actually the remoteness of this beautiful Island, the flora, fauna, wildlife and serenity that makes it more enjoyable to get away from it all.
The comment we hear most is wish we'd stayed longer! Don't underestimate what Skye has to offer and it's size.
